Volkswagen Golf 7 R Battle

Although she gave up the six-cylinder from the previous generation, the Golf has not abandoned the race for power. Surprised by our spies, the R version of its seventh version therefore show more muscular than its predecessor.

To survey the Nürburgring, a Golf does not seem to be the ideal tool. Yet, on the famous circuit, the copy photographed by our spies can remonstrate with more than one sports. It is indeed of two prototypes of the future R version, the most turbulent in the range, which are engaged in a great battle with a Jaguar (see video). A variant that will oversee the traditional GTI, from the next Frankfurt Motor Show. Like its predecessor, this variation will receive a four-cylinder turbo and may benefit from a dual-clutch transmission as an option. However, it should abandon the dual central exhaust outlet, a dash of style appeared on the Golf 5 R32 in 2005. This time, up to four pipes arranged on either side of the shield, as the cousin Audi S3.

A common thread among many others, as both compact also share the same engine, a 2.0 Turbo petrol double injection. Hierarchy requires the Volkswagen should just be satisfied with 290 hp and 380 Nm, while his alter ego the Rings has 300 hp. Not enough to upset the performance, which will remain high fly. Especially as the Golf R 7 promises to be lighter than its predecessor, while maintaining a full transmission. The 4Motion system also evolve elsewhere: he assert greater responsiveness and will be associated with XDS, an extension of the traction control capable of generating Torque Vectoring to improve agility, braking the inside wheel when cornering.
