Waiting for Number Two Edition
With 378 sales last month, the Canadian EV market was down 30% regarding the same month last year, with the all-important Second Gen Volt only coming in the second half of the year, expect sales to be on the negative side until then, followed by a sudden sales burst after.
Proving this point, the models ranking shows Tesla's Model S on top, winning a significant lead over the competition (172 units over the #2 and 201 over the #3), with the Leaf (127 units, best result ever) stealing the Gold Medal from the Volt, relegating GM's plug-in to Third, a new low in its five year history. The Second Generation Volt has a lot to recover, if it wants to recapture the leadership...
Looking at the rest of the models, the main surprise comes from the bottom, with the Mitsubishi I-Miev posting its best result (24 units) in the last two years, jumping four positions to #7, its best position since 2013!
The BMW i3 also fared well, selling 63 units, a new personal best, some sources say that the incentives return in British Columbia had a lot to do with this, can anyone in Vancouver or Richmond confirm this?
