First Look: Hot Wheels '96 Nissan 180SX Type X...

Sometimes I sit down to write and there is little that comes to mind.  This is one of those times.

And not because there is nothing to write about this model.  There is plenty.  More than plenty, to be honest.  But what hasn't been said already?

The buzz surrounding this model since was announced at the Hot Wheels Nationals Convention last March has been sky high.  It has been all the talk among the diecast set on Instagram, where drifting, JDM, and Hot Wheels collide, and there will undoubtedly be a rush on them when they hit the pegs.

So I could talk about how significant this car is as a drift machine, or go into the intricacies of the 180SX vs the 240SX vs a Sileighty, but you can get that anywhere.  What I can talk about is how awesome this model is.

There is nothing that disappoints.  The casting is a nice solid size, the details are Matchbox-esque, the aftermarket features are subtle and don't overwhelm (no upsloped chin!), the stance is perfect, as are the tail lights, and it boasts sleepy eye headlights.  This was clearly a designer's labor of love.

There have been some good new models from Hot Wheels this year, but the 180SX is in a league all its own.  I anticipate a bright future for this one, including at the upcoming Lamley Awards...
