It's safe to say Danica Patrick was not happy with Dale Earnhardt, Jr. "F— No. 88. Did he f—ing hit me? Go f— yourself. Really?"

On Lap 206 of the 400-mile race, Earnhardt ran into the back of Patrick's No. 10 car. Earnhardt was heard telling his crew, "I don't have any brakes," according to NASCAR.com.

Not pleased at all, Patrick responded by running into the No. 88 car on pit road, to which Earnhardt responded by cutting her off.

Following the race, in which she finished 34th, Patrick slammed her helmet on the top of her car and stormed off to her hauler — but not before being stopped by team owner Tony Stewart, who tried to calm her down and give her a lecture on retaliation and discourse.

Earnhardt was a bit less bombastic after the race. "There wasn't nothing I could do," he said. "It sucks, I don't like running into Danica 'cause it gets a little too much attention. But I'm sorry for that."

Earnhardt made no apologies about running into Patrick, due to the situation with his brakes. "I mean what am I supposed to say other than the truth?" the Hendrick Motorsports driver said. "We didn't have any brakes going into the corner. I know better than to run into her, because it gets so much attention. There wasn't nothing I could do.

"I mean as hard as I hit her, what the hell did she think I was doing trying to wreck her? We ain't got no problem. It's not like we were having a problem out on the racetrack with her. It's not like I just drew her name out of a hat and decided she was the one I was going to run into tonight."

NASCAR this week said it backs South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley's call to remove the Confederate flag from the State House, and said it disallows the flag symbol in any official NASCAR capacity.

Dale Earnhardt Jr. said he's long felt that the flag has no place in present day use "I think it's offensive to an entire race," Earnhardt said during his media availability at Sonoma Raceway. "It belongs in the history books and that's about it." while voicing his support for it being removed from the grounds of the South Carolina state capitol.

Teammate Jeff Gordon says Hendrick Motorsports has long prohibited any merchandise that uses the Confederate flag symbol.

Kelley Earnhardt Miller, Dale’s daughter, relayed a story in which her dad removed the Confederate flag from a popular bumper sticker that said “American by birth, Southern by the grace of God” when he learned the flag made his African-American housekeeper uncomfortable.

He left the phrase, but sliced off the controversial symbol of the South.

Dale Jr., in his 2001 autobiography, wrote about a speaking engagement where a fan asked him his thoughts on the rebel flag. After what he characterized as a “chorus of redneck yelps and cheers,” he described what led him to an interesting answer.

The guy has put me in a bind. As much as I brag about being a no-[B.S.]-tell-it-like-it-is-here's-how-I-see-it kinda guy, I know that these are the fans that pay my salary, so I'm hesitant to tell him the rebel flag represents closed-minded, racist views that have no place in today's society. Give 'em a straight answer and I may piss off the "rebels" in the crowd ... But I have my opinions and I don't want to give a dishonest answer, either. I feel like the weight of the Civil War is resting on my shoulders.

I take a couple of breaths and say, "I think it means something different to me than it does to y'all ..."

in 2006 Yahoo Sports asked 30 drivers to discuss the flag, all but one turned down requests for private interviews, written statements or any comment on the issue. Many did so tersely.

The only driver willing to speak on the issue was Dale Earnhardt Jr., who previously has expressed concern over the flag's meaning, hardly made a definitive statement, but at least had the guts to say something. (That's leadership folks, when only one person steps up to talk about a controversy, you've just seen leadership and guts)

"We live in a country where you can speak freely and do as you may," Earnhardt said. "I don't know what that flag stands for is the same for me as it is the guy who might have it flying out there.

"I am not going to agree with everything everybody does all my life. So I don't have any control over it."

When that is the best you can get out of nearly three dozen supposedly fearless, independent and talkative drivers, the silence is as telling as the sagging TV numbers. (or it's publicity smart, where they live and die by sponsorship)

NASCAR driver killed in New Jersey race crash -- NASCAR driver Jason Leffler died Wednesday after he crashed his car at the Bridgeport Speedway in New Jersey, NASCAR said.

He was 37.

Leffler was taking part in "Night of Wings," a 25-lap event for sprint cars with a $7,000 prize money. The race was not a NASCAR-sponsored event.

Sprint cars are high-powered cars that usually run on dirt or paved oval tracks.

"NASCAR extends its thoughts, prayers and deepest sympathies to the family of Jason Leffler who passed away earlier this evening," NASCAR said in a statement. "For more than a decade, Jason was a fierce competitor in our sport and he will be missed."

In March, another crash involving a sprint car killed two people at a racetrack in California.

That crash took place during warmup laps at Marysville Raceway Park, outside Sacramento. The car lost control, slammed into the pits, killing a 68-year-old man and a 14-year-old boy.

Soon after Leffler's death was announced, condolences poured in from fellow drivers.

"Deeply saddened by the passing of @JasonLeffler tonight. Please keep his family in your thoughts and prayers," tweeted Kyle Bush.

Another driver, Bobby Labonte, said in a Twitter post, "Lost a good guy tonight in Jason Leffler. Prayers with your family!"

SCX "Bass Pro" Nascar review

A review by Harry Wise of Home Racing World.

Likely one of the last paint schemes to come on this version of the COT NASCAR from SCX, this latest release is my favorite. Of course NASCAR changed the body during the season to eliminate the wing and go back to a spoiler, but this car is accurate for the beginning of a great year for this young driver.

As with most any other model, either you will like this scheme or you won't. I really like it of course, but I am biased. Jamie is one of my favorite drivers as us Missouri boys have to stick together :) I am a Carl Edwards fan too, but it is almost impossible to make a cool looking car with a duck on it. With this scheme I think they nailed it.

SCX has done a great job in scale as well. It isn't perfect but it is sure close enough for me. See, I am very grateful to have this car. I had ordered decals to make my own and the day after they arrived, I received the press release announcing that this car would be made. GOOD. I am not a very good painter and SCX saved me from my usual poor quality finishes!
