BMW wins Slovenia

A total of 217 units were registered this year, doubling the result achieved in 2015, admittedly the numbers are small, so its easy to have big growth rates, but with the plug-in share at a record 0.33%, the needle is starting to move in the right direction.

BMW won both the models and manufacturers (37% share) trophy, with the i3 ending the year with 56 new registrations, a new record, followed by the 2015 Best Seller, the Renault Zoe, which dropped 11 units YoY, while Volkswagen landed this year and its e-Golf went straight up to Third, with 21 units, becoming also the Rookie of the Year.

The Best Selling PHEV title went also for BMW, with the #8 330e registering 10 units.

The BEV/PHEV breakdown shows us a strongly favoring BEV market, although plug-in hybrids grew from 7% in 2015 to 16% now.

BMW wins Slovenia

A total of 186 units were registered this year, which is an 81% improvement YoY, admittedly the numbers are small, so its easy to have big growth rates, but with the plug-in share now at a record 0.31%, it is the most interesting market to follow in this area of the world, with approximately double the share of their neighbors Italy (0,16%) and Croatia (0,18%).

BMW is the undisputed leader (40% Share), with the i3 shining and collecting 50 new registrations this year, beating the previous YTD record of 41 units made last year by the Renault Zoe, this year displaced to Second Place.

Looking elsewhere, despite its high price, the Tesla Model S continues to be a popular model here, having risen to #6 last month.

The Electric VW's have (Finally) arrived to Slovenia

Volkswagen Charges On In Hot Market

A total of 38 units were registered last month, which is a 322% improvement YoY, admittedly the numbers are small, so its easy to have such impressive growth rates, but it was still by far the best selling month for plug-ins ever, while also comparing favorably with the total sales of 2014, being a grand total of...40.

The EV Share is now at a record to 0.29%, with the market share now starting to move the needle at plain sight.

BMW is the leader (41% Share), with the i3 selling for the first time in two digits, but the event of the month was the 20 units of e-Golf registrations, allowing the plug-in best seller to jump straight to Second Place, it seems Volkswagen is now serious on EV's here, so we welcome the Best Selling manufacturer in Europe into this small but fast growing market.

On the other hand, Renault sales seem to have stopped, maybe buyers are already waiting for the 40 kWh version of the Zoe and we will see a spike in sales early next year.

Debut Edition

We welcome a new market here on EV Sales, Slovenia, EV's have been around here since 2011 (The Mitsubishi I-Miev triplets were the pioneers) and despite a small but enthusiastic following, only this year sales started to reach significant numbers, 53 units were registered in the first six months of the year, which is already double the numbers of the previous sales record (27 units in 2012), which translates in an EV Share of 0,18%, a number that triples last year result (0,05%) and compares favorably with some established markets, like Spain (0,16%) or the neighboring Italy (0,17%).

Renault only recently started to sell EV's in Slovenia, but they are already ahead of the (small) pack, with the Zoe registering 17 units (Already beating the previous 16 units single-model record of the Citroen C-Zero in 2012) in the first half of the year, removing the Nissan Leaf from the leadership, but not all is bad news for the japanese car, the current 14 sales are already doubling the number of sales held last year.

The BMW i3 is another recent newcomer, it is now #3 and it could fight with the Alliance models for the leadership.

Last year Best Seller, Tesla Model S, is down to #4, selling only five units this year, half of what it did in the same period last year. 

Plug-In Hybrids are relegated to the last places of the ranking, with the BMW i8 ahead of Opel Ampera and VW XL1.
