Chevrolet is Making Trax with New Customers

The 2015 Chevrolet Trax is bringing new and
younger customers to the brand

Small SUV brings new, younger and female customers to the brand

The Chevrolet Trax, the brand’s newest addition to its SUV family, has climbed to the No. 2 spot in market share in the small SUV segment after its first few months in the U.S. market.
On sale since mid-December, 47 percent of Trax buyers are new to Chevrolet, 58 percent are women, and 19 percent are under the age of 35.
“The Trax gives customers another choice in the Chevrolet portfolio between small cars and SUVs,” said Steve Majoros, Chevrolet director of marketing for cars and crossovers. “The Trax offers customers a well-equipped, entry-level SUV that was not an option before, and it is one more way we hope to earn customers for life.”

SUV sales are surging in 2015, accounting for 37 percent of total industry sales. The compact SUV segment, where the Chevrolet Equinox competes, led the industry in 2014 and is on a similar path this year. Equinox saw its best January and February ever, with sales up 14 percent. The Chevrolet Traverse midsize SUV total sales were up 28 percent in February, its best February since its introduction in 2008 as a ’09 model.
The small SUV segment has a lot of room to grow, said Michelle Krebs, an analyst with AutoTrader.com.
“The small utility segment has seen phenomenal growth in the U.S. and across the globe,” Krebs said. “AutoTrader saw a huge increase in shopping traffic for small utilities in 2014. Of all our shopping traffic, 46 percent looked at SUVs and CUVs in 2014, up from 36 percent in 2013.”
Based on early tracking, March sales indicates Trax, Equinox and Traverse sales will be even stronger.

2015 Chevy Trax Receives 5-Star Overall Safety Rating

Latest to lineup with most 5-Star rated models in the U.S.

The 2015 Chevrolet Trax small SUV has received the highest possible 5-star Overall Vehicle Score for safety as part of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s New Car Assessment Program. The rating was given to both front- and all-wheel drive models.
The award further cements Chevrolet’s lead in 5-Star rated 2015 vehicles, having more models in its lineup than any brand sold in the U.S. It also puts the Trax among the safest in the quickly expanding small SUV segment, which is expected to grow more than 80 percent in the next few years.
“The Trax is the perfect example of Chevrolet’s commitment to putting state-of-the-art technology and class-leading safety features where it matters most for the customer,” said Brian Sweeney, U.S. vice president, Chevrolet.
The Trax’s body structure forms a protective cage around the passenger compartment, with 66 percent of it composed of high-strength steels – including ultra-high-strength steel in strategic areas. The Trax features 10 air bags standard and a standard rearview camera. Rear park assist is available.
The NCAP evaluations include front, side and rollover testing. Trax also received a 5-star score on a side pole impact test, which simulates hitting a tree just behind the driver’s side A-pillar at 20 mph.
The all-new Trax first arrived at Kupper Chevrolet this January. Visit our showroom to see all the great features of the Trax or stop today for a test drive.

Chevrolet Puts the Show Back into the Auto Show

Interactive display highlights key safety features using state-of-the-art technology

Chevrolet is putting the show back in the North American International Auto Show with an all-new display featuring six 20 ft.-tall, transparent screens with coordinated LED lighting and music that will tell stories about the brand’s cars, trucks and crossovers.
The nine chapters include highlights of Chevrolet’s dependability, performance, belief in the power of play, available in-vehicle Wi-Fi technology through OnStar 4G LTE and others.

“We’ve re-imagined the auto show by putting the show back at the center with state-of-the-art technology,” said Tim Mahoney, chief marketing officer, Global Chevrolet. “The display is designed to connect with attendees and show how the brand continues to Find New Roads.”
The center aisle, or Main Street, features the latest vehicles from Chevrolet – the Corvette Z06, Trax and Colorado, 2015 Motor Trend Truck of the Year®. Main Street leads to the Chevrolet Theater with a massive, high resolution 73-foot-long, 20-foot tall display, and the latest introduction, the 2016 Chevrolet Volt.
A safety experience in the theater will show how Chevrolet vehicles are designed to prevent, protect and respond to help keep vehicle occupants safe on the road. Next to the theater, virtual reality technology will provide a driving experience of crash avoidance technology like available Lane Departure Warning and Forward Collision Alert.
During select public days, regional organizations will present ways they are using ingenuity to make a difference in their community during The Possibilities Project feature presentations. Participating groups include United Way for Southeastern Michigan, Greening of Detroit, De-Tread and others.
The public will also have an opportunity to record a 20-second video with their ideas for a better tomorrow and share their video via Facebook, Twitter, e-mail or text.
The display will also make attendees a part of the experience through social media.  Attendees who take photos with My Chevy View in the display can share them through their own social media accounts and may find themselves on the larger-than-life screens.
