Top 10 New Supercars Under $100K

Top 10 Cheapest New Supercars

Yes, it is possible to drive a supercar with $100K or less now. As I have said before, you do not have to be a millionaire to be able to afford a fast and luxury car. Everyone loves to own a supercar, some for the driving experience and some to feel superior to their neighbours who own a Toyota Camry with an aftermarket exhaust. Even if you do not have $100K or less, it is not a problem now. A lot of financing institutions are ready to make your dream come true. There are two well-known types of car finance: Car Financing and Car Leasing. Last week, I wrote about car finance as well as all the things you need to consider when buying a new supercar. Read about it here.

Let's take a look at the new supercars available on the market for less than $100K:

1.Porsche 718 Cayman

The Porsche 718 Cayman is a mid-engined two-passengers sports car. The rear-wheel-drive hatchback or convertible is powered by a turbocharged flat-4 engine with direct fuel injection. The lightweight supercar makes 295 hp and 280 lb-ft of torque.

The car will accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 5.1s if you go with the six-speed manual transmission and it will do so in 4.7s if you choose seven-speed dual-clutch automatic PDK with manual shifting mode. The Porsche 718 Cayman will reach a top speed of 275 km/h which is very impressive for its price range.

The fuel consumption of the Porsche 718 Cayman is as impressive as its price. The car has a combined fuel consumption of about 7.4L per 100 km for the manual and around 6.9L per 100 km for the PDK.

The Porsche 718 Cayman, being a lightweight supercar, is very nimble on the track and its steering wheel is precise. You can easily have fun with this one as it is packed with performance without going broke. Enjoy 2 years without mileage limit warranty on your purchase to give you peace of mind. Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 Full Review | Specifications, Price, Engine, Top Speed

2018 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 1LE

Overview

The Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 is an American automobile manufactured by General Motors. The first production started back in 1966 and it was designed to compete with Ford Mustang. Four different generations of the Camaro were developed before production ended in 2002. Later in 2009, the fifth generation was in production and today we have the sixth generation Camaro, a completely improved sports car. The Chevrolet Camaro is usually classified as pony car or muscle car. This car was replacing its predecessor the Chevrolet Corvair, a muscle car.

The Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 was built to compete with the most advanced sports car in the world and we can definitely say that General Motors got their formulae well just by looking at the menacing design. The car gets classified as both luxury sports car and muscle car.

Designs

The design of the sixth-generation Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 has improved greatly. You can clearly say this Camaro is the among the best looking car General Motors has ever built.

The massive upper and lower grille openings allow air into the engine for maximum cooling. The carbon-fibre composite hood acts as an air extractor. It directs air from the engine to decrease lift. Downforce has greatly increased in the new Chevy Camaro ZL1 with the help of a three-stanchion spoiler and many other components all-together. The front splitter also looks very aggressive.

The Chevy Camaro ZL1 takes aerodynamic to another level. Even the front Chevy badge has been hollowed out to increase airflow. The rear diffuser and wing help in keeping a high level of performance during the whole journey.

The Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 is also available as a convertible. The fully electronic convertible top can be retracted while driving up to 30 mph.

Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 review

The interior of the Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 is mostly the same as the other types of Camaro except for the steering wheel, seats and exposed carbon-fibre. The car has a flat-bottom steering wheel that makes you feel like you are in a supercar and yeah, the steering wheel is heated. The Camaro ZL1 also features standard RECARO performance seats with well-designed bolsters that help to reduce arm interference during quick shifts. The power seats come with memory package as well. The car has rear seats but do not even think about it due to its size. Maybe only kids can fit back there.

The Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 comes equipped with a head-up display, a wireless smartphone charger and Apple CarPlay or Android Auto compatibility. The old school parking brake has been replaced with an electronic one and the car has keyless open and start system. Inside the car is a Bose premium audio system that delivers amazing sound quality. The Chevy Camaro ZL1 has a built-in 4G LTE Wi-Fi that can connect up to seven devices simultaneously.

Engine

The Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 is the most powerful Camaro ever produced. Under the hood lies a 6.2L supercharged V8. The Eaton supercharger has a new cooling design that has more efficient heat exchange thus, providing consistent power during the whole ride. The powerful engine makes 650 hp and 650 lb-ft of torque. You can have either a six-speed manual gearbox with Active Rev Matching or an all-new paddle-shift ten-speed automatic transmission. The rear-wheel-drive Camaro ZL1 will accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in just 3.5s and it will do a quarter mile in 11.4s. The car has a top speed of 200 mph.

With the help of the 650 hp, the Magnetic Ride Technology and a track aero package, the Chevy Camaro ZL1 has completed the famous Nurburgring lap in an astonishing 7:29:60, better than the last generation ZL1 by nearly 12s. The lighter and stiffer platform that the new ZL1 is built on has also helped a lot in breaking this record.

Additional Specifications

The Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 uses standard 20 inch forged aluminium wheels that are wrapped in Goodyear Eagle F1 SuperCar summer-only tires that are best for track use. The car also has large Brembo brakes that allows precise braking while resisting fade.

The Chevy Camaro ZL1 features Magnetic Ride Control suspension that reads the road conditions 1000 times per second. As you hit a corner, the suspension gets stiffer and body roll is reduced immediately. This system basically allows you to drive your Camaro ZL1 to its limits while keeping you firmly on the ground.

The Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 is also equipped with Performance Traction Management System (eLSD) that makes it easier for you to achieve quicker lap times by giving you high-speed stability, improving "turn in" response and corner exit speed.

The new ZL1 has Custom Launch Control which uses Performance Traction Control to keep the rear tires spinning at the correct speed and it also allows you to adjust your launch RPM as well as wheel slippage through the Driver Information Centre. The car also has a Line Lock feature that primarily allows you to lock the front wheels thus allowing the rear wheels to spin, warming the tires for maximum grip.

1LE Track Package

The 2018 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 comes with a 1LE Track Package which will improve aero and downforce much more. The package will feature exposed weave carbon-fibre wing, front dive planes and adjustable suspension. This package will make the car much more agile around the track.

The Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 has a starting price of around $62,000. Currently, anyone interested can order one and you can also build your own on Chevrolet website. For such a performance, I think the Camaro ZL1 is worth the price.

Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 2017 Details

The potent Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 is the high-performance variant of the reborn, retro-flavored Camaro. Also available in summer-friendly convertible form, the coupe combines aggressive looks and a 580 horsepower supercharged V8 with surprisingly good handling dynamics and ride quality thanks to GM's trick Magnetic Ride Control system.

Overview

The ZL1 packs a more powerful version of the supercharged 6.2-liter LSA V8 that was introduced in the Cadillac CTS-V. In the Camaro, the motor is good for 580 horsepower and 556 lb-ft of torque, beating out the classic 1969 ZL1's 427 cubic inch V8 by more than 150 horsepower. Helping make those impressive power figures is a 1.9-liter Roots-style supercharger that crams air into the engine with a pair of four-lobe rotors and the aid of an intercooler.

Chevrolet modified the LSA engine specifically for the ZL1, with upgrades including a less restrictive air filter, dual inlet paths and improved airflow throughout the supercharger housing. Other changes include a more efficient intercooler and electric power steering system.
Specially engineered transmissions were necessary to the stress of all that power. Chevy beefed up its Tremec TR-6060 six-speed manual to MG9-spec for ZL1 duty, which means the transmission can handle 30 percent more torque. This is achieved through the use of a strengthened output shaft, high-strength rear housing and additional roller bearing.

One unique feature of the ZL1 among high-performance muscle cars is the availability of an automatic transmission. While the notion of adding an automatic transmission may make some enthusiasts cringe, the reality is some consumers with pockets deep enough to purchase this car may very well prefer a six-speed automatic transmission over a do-it-yourself box.

The clutch-less option is a Hydra-Matic 6L90 six-speed automatic transmission, which benefits from two additional pinion gears, an additional clutch plate and strengthened output shaft and gearset. There are also three drive modes: Drive, Sport and Manual, depending on the driver's preference at the time.
"Drive" is calibrated for optimal fuel economy, which even includes second-gear starts, along with smoother shifting points for comfort. This is for drivers simply looking to get from point A to point B without earning themselves a ticket or squandering $60 worth of premium fuel.

"Sport" is, as expected, a sport-minded setup that makes use of faster, tighter shift points and a tendency to hold gears longer for optimal power.
The final mode, "Manual," takes away any automatic upshifts, adds staged upshifts when demanded and puts all focus on performance at the cost of comfort and economy. This is the mode for those lucky and bold enough to enjoy their ZL1 on the track.
Outside, the ZL1 boasts an aggressive body kit along with a unique "mohawk-style" hood, which features a functional air extractor and is made of a carbon fiber composite. The cabin is dressed up with a sueded microfiber-accented instrument panel and an available (and highly recommended) sueded microfiber wrap on the special flat-bottom steering wheel and shifter. The visibility problems of the standard Camaro, created by thick pillars and a high beltline, regrettably remain in the ZL1. Thankfully, a backup camera is available.

New to the ZL1 is a standard MyLink infotainment system, which offers voice control of certain entertainment functions and includes Bluetooth smartphone connectivity and streaming audio via Pandora radio and Stitcher SmartRadio. MyLink comes with a color touchscreen and can be outfitted with navigation.

Magnetic Ride Control

The trick to the ZL1's excellent ride/handling compromise is GM's third-generation Magnetic Ride Control system. This technology uses valve-less damping and Magneto-Rheological fluid technology in its shock absorbers to control resistance. Essentially, the system can magnetize particles to change the flow resistance on the fly and adjust the ride from hard to soft, or soft to hard - mitigating body roll during hard cornering and keeping the ride comfortable while cruising.
The third-gen system uses new twin-wire/dual-coil dampers at all four corners, rather than a single, larger single-core on the outgoing generation. The new system allows for even more precise control and a wider range of comfort levels, allowing up to 1,000 adjustments per second.

The MRC system has three preset settings: Tour, Sport and Track.
Performance Traction Management system
The final trick up the ZL1's sleeve comes in the form of a performance traction management system intended to used on the track or at drag strips. PTM is standard equipment, having been born in the Corvette ZR1.
PTM works by integrating magnetic ride control, launch control, traction control and electronic stability control to work together optimally depending on the environment and task at hand.
