Overview

The Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 is an American automobile manufactured by General Motors. The first production started back in 1966 and it was designed to compete with Ford Mustang. Four different generations of the Camaro were developed before production ended in 2002. Later in 2009, the fifth generation was in production and today we have the sixth generation Camaro, a completely improved sports car. The Chevrolet Camaro is usually classified as pony car or muscle car. This car was replacing its predecessor the Chevrolet Corvair, a muscle car. 

The Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 was built to compete with the most advanced sports car in the world and we can definitely say that General Motors got their formulae well just by looking at the menacing design. The car gets classified as both luxury sports car and muscle car.

The design of the sixth-generation Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 has improved greatly. You can clearly say this Camaro is the among the best looking car General Motors has ever built.

The massive upper and lower grille openings allow air into the engine for maximum cooling. The carbon-fibre composite hood acts as an air extractor. It directs air from the engine to decrease lift. Downforce has greatly increased in the new Chevy Camaro ZL1 with the help of a three-stanchion spoiler and many other components all-together. The front splitter also looks very aggressive.

The Chevy Camaro ZL1 takes aerodynamic to another level. Even the front Chevy badge has been hollowed out to increase airflow. The rear diffuser and wing help in keeping a high level of performance during the whole journey.

The Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 is also available as a convertible. The fully electronic convertible top can be retracted while driving up to 30 mph.

The interior of the Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 is mostly the same as the other types of Camaro except for the steering wheel, seats and exposed carbon-fibre. The car has a flat-bottom steering wheel that makes you feel like you are in a supercar and yeah, the steering wheel is heated. The Camaro ZL1 also features standard RECARO performance seats with well-designed bolsters that help to reduce arm interference during quick shifts. The power seats come with memory package as well. The car has rear seats but do not even think about it due to its size. Maybe only kids can fit back there.

The Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 comes equipped with a head-up display, a wireless smartphone charger and Apple CarPlay or Android Auto compatibility. The old school parking brake has been replaced with an electronic one and the car has keyless open and start system. Inside the car is a Bose premium audio system that delivers amazing sound quality. The Chevy Camaro ZL1 has a built-in 4G LTE Wi-Fi that can connect up to seven devices simultaneously.

Engine

The Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 is the most powerful Camaro ever produced. Under the hood lies a 6.2L supercharged V8. The Eaton supercharger has a new cooling design that has more efficient heat exchange thus, providing consistent power during the whole ride. The powerful engine makes 650 hp and 650 lb-ft of torque. You can have either a six-speed manual gearbox with Active Rev Matching or an all-new paddle-shift ten-speed automatic transmission. The rear-wheel-drive Camaro ZL1 will accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in just 3.5s and it will do a quarter mile in 11.4s. The car has a top speed of 200 mph.

With the help of the 650 hp, the Magnetic Ride Technology and a track aero package, the Chevy Camaro ZL1 has completed the famous Nurburgring lap in an astonishing 7:29:60, better than the last generation ZL1 by nearly 12s. The lighter and stiffer platform that the new ZL1 is built on has also helped a lot in breaking this record. 

Additional Specifications

The Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 uses standard 20 inch forged aluminium wheels that are wrapped in Goodyear Eagle F1 SuperCar summer-only tires that are best for track use. The car also has large Brembo brakes that allows precise braking while resisting fade.  

The Chevy Camaro ZL1 features Magnetic Ride Control suspension that reads the road conditions 1000 times per second. As you hit a corner, the suspension gets stiffer and body roll is reduced immediately. This system basically allows you to drive your Camaro ZL1 to its limits while keeping you firmly on the ground. 

The Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 is also equipped with Performance Traction Management System (eLSD) that makes it easier for you to achieve quicker lap times by giving you high-speed stability, improving "turn in" response and corner exit speed. 

The new ZL1 has Custom Launch Control which uses Performance Traction Control to keep the rear tires spinning at the correct speed and it also allows you to adjust your launch RPM as well as wheel slippage through the Driver Information Centre. The car also has a Line Lock feature that primarily allows you to lock the front wheels thus allowing the rear wheels to spin, warming the tires for maximum grip. 

1LE Track Package

The 2018 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 comes with a 1LE Track Package which will improve aero and downforce much more. The package will feature exposed weave carbon-fibre wing, front dive planes and adjustable suspension. This package will make the car much more agile around the track.

Price

The Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 has a starting price of around $62,000. Currently, anyone interested can order one and you can also build your own on Chevrolet website. For such a performance, I think the Camaro ZL1 is worth the price.

2018 Mercedes-Benz G63 AMG Full Review | Specifications, Price

Overview

The Mercedes G-Class (G-Wagon) is a mid-size luxury SUV built by Magna Steyr in Austria and marketed by Mercedes-Benz. This luxury SUV is one of the longest produced Mercedes with a span of 35 years. The first production was back in 1979 and it was used as a military vehicle. Later the same year, a civilian version was also made available to the general public. The manufacturer wanted to stop production of the G-Class several times but the market really loves it and as each year passed, sales increased. Mercedes-Benz brought various updates to the G-Wagon over the years while still keeping the original boxy style. Among the many versions of the Mercedes G-Wagon are the G63 4x4 squared, G63 6x6, G500 AMG, G800 AMG.

This year, the second generation of Mercedes G-Class was launched at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit on January 14, 2018. This new generation has the G63 AMG and the G500 AMG. The new SUV features a lot of improvement from its predecessor. The designs, however is mostly the same boxy style but the lines are smoother now and the front of the car has changed. A major improvement has happened under the hood and according to Mercedes-Benz, the new G63 will handle much better on road while still being the king of off-roading.

Exterior

The designs of the Mercedes G63 AMG has been kept the same but there are some slight changes. The headlights are new and they are LED, which means that visibility at night will be improved. The front bumper has completely changed also, making the car looks a bit more stylish. The new AMG-specific Panamericana grille design definitely separates the new G63 from the older ones. The lines on the side of the G63 AMG are smoother now compared to its predecessor but you have to take a good look to be able to notice it. The wheels are wider now and up to 22-inch wheels can be fitted on the G63 AMG. The ground clearance has also improved to 9.5 inches.

An optional AMG Night Package is also available for the Mercedes G63 AMG. The package includes darker headlamp, tail-light and indicator lenses. Black-painted side mirrors, parts of the spare-tire cover, the trim from the front to the rear bumper and the wheels are also in the package. 

Interior

The interior of the Mercedes-Benz G63 AMG has completely changed. The dashboard has been fitted with one large panel of glass split into two, replacing the traditional instrument cluster and the navigation and infotainment. The multi-functional steering wheel with touch-sensitive controls for the infotainment system is also new in the G63 AMG. The old handbrake has now been replaced with an electric one and a gear selector stalk is also added. 

Another major improvement in the new Mercedes G63 AMG is that it is lighter by 170 kg compared to the older version. Good news for those who complain about the space inside the cabin. This new G63 AMG is 53 millimetres longer and 121 millimetres wider, which means that there are more legroom and shoulder room for both front and rear passengers than the older G-Class. 

Engine

Under the hood lies a 4.0L Twin-Turbo (BiTurbo) V8. The all-wheel-drive G63 AMG makes 585 hp and 627 lb-ft of torque to the wheels. The car uses a new AMG SPEEDSHIFT TCT 9G transmission. The G63 AMG will accelerate to 60 mph in 4.4s, nearly a full second faster than its high-performance predecessor. Quarter mile figure not available as the car has not yet been driven by anyone. The Mercedes G63 AMG can achieve a top speed of 137 mph (220 km/h) while with the AMG Driver's Package, it will reach up to 149 mph (240 km/h). 

The Mercedes G63 AMG, for the first time ever, comes equipped with five driving modes: Comfort, Sport, Eco, Individual and G-Mode. These modes not only adjust the damping, steering and throttle response but G-Mode also activates the car's low-speed transfer box. A new improved suspension, chassis, engine, gearbox and driver assistance package have been fitted in the new G63 AMG. This car does not use the old rack-and-pinion steering from the traditional recirculation ball set-up that the older version was using. The new steering system will improve the on-road precision.

Good news for all those who complain about the bad fuel economy. Mercedes-Benz has promised better fuel efficiency with the new G63 AMG. It will now do 13.1L per 100 km, which is not that much of an improvement from the older version but still, it is a bit better.

Price

The new Mercedes-Benz G63 AMG has an entry price of at least $125,000. The price is still in the range of its predecessor but now with all improvements, this car is worth every penny according to me. The G-Wagon has always been loved by everyone and this love is not going to decrease anytime soon. 

Dieter Zetsche, Chairman of the Board of Management of Daimler AG and Head of Mercedes-Benz, has said during the launch of the new Mercedes G63 AMG that an electric version of the SUV might be available soon on the market. That will be interesting to see and definitely, Tesla will get another direct competitor.

Porsche 911 GT2 RS Full Review | Specifications, Price and Competitors

Overview

The Porsche 911 GT2 RS is a high-performance sports car produced by German auto manufacturer, Porsche. The first generation of 911 started back in 1993 and was produced till 1998 then it was produced between 2001 to 2005 and from 2007 to 2012. Now, in 2018, Porsche has decided to continue the production with the new GT2 RS.

The Porsche 911 GT2 RS was initially released at the 2017 E3 along with the announcement of Forza Motorsport 7 video game. Then, finally, the car was officially launched at the 2017 Goodwood Festival of Speed and Porsche also introduced the 911 Turbo S Exclusive Series during the same event.

The Porsche 911 GT2 RS is based largely on the 911 Turbo. The car features the same twin-turbocharged engine but with numerous upgrade to improve its performance. New larger brakes and stiffer suspension calibration are among the upgrades of the car. The Porsche 911 GT2 RS is way lighter than the 911 Turbo due to its rear-wheel drive system instead of the all-wheel system in the 911 Turbo. There has also been a reduction or complete removal of certain interior components. 

Another amazing fact worth noting is that the Porsche 911 GT2 RS is the most expensive and fastest car in the 911 lineup.

The design of the new Porsche 911 GT2 RS is completely insane. Porsche has gone to the extreme level with this one and we all love how it looks. Raw, menacing and definitely sexy! The design of the GT2 RS is literally the GT2 with additional air intakes, a large rear wing bigger than the body of the car and other modifications. 

The Porsche GT2 RS has a roof made of magnesium, very durable but lighter than aluminium. The front lid, front and rear wings and boot lid are all made of carbon. Polyurethane, known for its lightweight, is present on the front and rear apron. The rear and side windows of the car are made of polycarbonate. The GT2 RS has a titanium exhaust system. Porsche has made sure that the GT2 RS is the lightest and most agile car in the 911 lineup.

Let's talk about air vents now. At first glance itself, you will notice air intakes everywhere around the car. Well, these powerful air intakes ensure optimum cooling of the Porsche 911 GT2 RS. There are additional air outlets on the front helping with the airflow of the central radiator and at the same time making the car more aerodynamics while increasing downforce. The large rear wing brings in the biggest contribution in terms of downforce. Porsche has made it clear that all the air vents are protected by titanium-coloured air intake grilles. The two vents on the front lid are used to ventilate the braking system. This is the first time that a series-production Porsche is equipped with vents on the front lid. They cool down the braking system without reducing the drag coefficient. The Porsche 911 GT2 RS has a net weight of only 1470 kg.

Weissach Package

An option to make the Porsche 911 GT2 RS even much lighter is to go for the Weissach package. The latter will reduce additional 30 kg of weight from the car. How they do that? They use carbon fibre and titanium in more places around the car. They make the anti-roll bars and coupling rods on both axles out of carbon fibre. They will also give you a fresh set of magnesium wheels.

Engine

The Porsche 911 GT2 RS is powered by a 3.8L twin-turbocharged flat-6 making 690 hp and 550 lb-ft of torque. Unlike the GT2, the GT2 RS has a seven-speed PDK transmission to handle the excess amount of torque. The car will do 0 to 60 mph in 2.7s and it will do 0 to 100 mph in 5.8s, faster than its predecessor for sure. It will reach up to a top speed of 210 mph (340 km/h).

During the last days of September 2017, the Porsche GT2 RS made a lap time of 6:47:3 at the Nurburgring, averaging a speed of 184.11 km/h. This is the fastest production car lap time ever recorded there. 

Price

The Porsche 911 GT2 RS is significantly more expensive than the rest of the 911 lineup. The car starts at MSRP $293,200. With options, the price will reach up to $350,000. It is expected to arrive in the United States during early 2018.

Ferrari 488 GTB

The Ferrari 488 GTB is a mid-engined supercar produced by Italian sports car manufacturer Ferrari, replacing the 458. The car is powered by a 3.9L twin-turbocharged V8 making 661 hp and 561 lb-ft of torque. The rear-wheel-drive Italian supercar is available only with an automated manual dual-clutch seven-speed F1 gearbox. The Ferrari 488 GTB will reach 62 mph in 3.0s flat and it will reach 124 mph in 8.3s. The car has a top speed of around 205 mph (330 km/h). The 488 GTB is equipped with improved ceramic brakes to stop the car at very high speed. 

The Ferrari 488 GTB has been designed to increase the amount of downforce by 50% over the 458 and at the same time reducing aerodynamic drag. Its fuel consumption ranges from 10.7L to 14.7L per 100 km. The car weighs 1475 kg (3252 lbs), just 5 kg heavier than the Porsche 911 GT2 RS. The base price of the Ferrari 488 GTB is $301,000, slightly more expensive than the Porsche 911 GT2 RS. 

Lamborghini Huracan LP 580-2 Coupe

 The Lamborghini Huracan LP 580-2 is a lower cost alternative to the AWD Lamborghini Huracan LP 610-4. This rear-wheel-drive Lamborghini Huracan has a 5.2L V10 producing 572 hp and 393 lb-ft of torque. The car is equipped with a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. It will go from 0 to 62 mph in 3.4s and it will accelerate from 0 to 124 mph in 10.1s. The Huracan has a top speed of 199 mph (320 km/h). Fuel consumption is around 9.0L to 19.6L per 100 km depending on how you are driving it. It is the lightest among its competitors, weighing only 1389 kg (3062 lbs). 

The design of the Lamborghini Huracan RWD is similar to that of the Lamborghini Huracan AWD. The only difference is the drivetrain and the price. The base price of the Lamborghini Huracan LP 580-2 is $201,100, making it the cheapest among its competitors.

McLaren Senna | Review, Specifications, Price and Competitors

Overview

The McLaren Senna is the latest limited-production supercar by McLaren. The car is a tribute to the famous racing driver Ayrton Senna. The mid-engined supercar is also a new addition to the McLaren Ultimate Series, joining the McLaren F1 and P1. 

The McLaren Senna has been revealed online by the company on December 10, 2017. There are rumours that the car will be officially revealed at the Geneva Motor Show 2018. The supercar will be hand-built at the McLaren Production Centre in Woking, Surrey, England. It is limited to only 500 units and at the time being all of the Senna have already been sold out. The price of the McLaren Senna is $1,003,950 but the last car was sold at auction for a whopping $2,670,000, more than double of its original price. How crazy is that? A car that has not yet been officially revealed is already sold out. Delivery is scheduled during the last couple of months of 2018. 

Who is Ayrton Senna?

Ayrton Senna, born on March 21, 1960, was a Brazilian racing driver who won three Formula One World Championships for McLaren in 1988, 1990 and 1991. He is widely known as one of the greatest Formula One drivers of all time. Ayrton Senna also holds the record for the fifth most Formula One Grand Prix wins (41 in total). Sadly, he died on May 1, 1994, as a result of his car crashing against a cement barrier during the 1994 San Marino Grand Prix at the Autodromo Enzo e Dino Ferrari in Italy. The design of the McLaren Senna has been receiving a lot of negative criticism since the company revealed it online but this is not what matters to McLaren apparently. The makers of the car had only one vision in mind, to make the car as quick and lightweight as possible. If you take a close look at the car, you will see that each curve, each vent and each bolt has its specific function. The car is built to be completely functional. The car has dihedral doors just like the McLaren F1 and P1. Believe me, it is a car that will make you fall in love with it the more you see and know it. 

Exterior

The exterior of the McLaren Senna looks very menacing. The car is largely based on the McLaren 720s as it is using a modified version of its carbon-fibre monocoque. Its large double-element tilting rear wing acts as airbrake also. The roof scoop is inspired by Formula One racing cars. The Senna has air-intakes everywhere. The front and side air-intakes improve the car's aerodynamics greatly. The car is very low to the ground, giving it lot of downforce. The car also has a triple exhaust outlet, making the car looks angrier. The McLaren Senna is using the new generation Brembo carbon ceramic brakes as well as new set of central-locking alloy wheels wrapped in Pirelli P-Zero Trofeo R tires. It weighs only 1198 kg (2641 lb). You can also get the car with the optional see-through glass panels in the doors for greater visibility and to further reduce the weight of the car. 

Interior

The interior of the McLaren Senna is also designed to save weight. Inside the car, there is exposed carbon-fibre everywhere. The seats can be either upholstered in Alcantara or leather, as per customer's choice. Behind the two seats, expect to find enough space for two helmets and race suits, keep in mind that it is a weight-saving car. The interior to a great extent resembles the interior of the McLaren 720s with some modifications added to it. On an overall, the McLaren Senna has a good amount of visibility except at the back, where the large two-element wing blocks some of its rear visibility.

Engine

The McLaren Senna is powered by a 4.0L Twin-Turbocharged V8, the same as in the McLaren 720s but with some modifications to it. The engine makes 789 hp and 590 lb-ft of torque to the rear wheels (RWD). The car has a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. Due to its light-weight body, the Senna will do 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) in only 2.8s and it will cross 124mph (200 km/h) in 6.8s. The car will do a quarter mile in 9.9s. The McLaren Senna has a top speed of 211 mph (340 km/h). Unlike the P1, the Senna uses only gasoline.

Competitors

Ferrari Laferrari

The best competitor to the McLaren Senna is none other than the Ferrari Laferrari. The Laferrari has a 6.3L V12 with a 161 hp electric motor, altogether producing 789 hp and 520 lb-ft of torque. Like the McLaren Senna, it uses carbon-fibre monocoque, Brembo carbon-ceramic brakes, seven-speed dual-clutch transmission and it is rear-wheel drive (RWD). However, the Laferrari will reach 62 mph in just 2.4s, 0.4s faster than the Senna and it will reach 124 mph in less than 7s. The Laferrari will reach a top speed of 217 mph (349 km/h). The car weighs 1255 kg, a bit more than the McLaren Senna. Inside the car, there are lots of exposed carbon-fibre just like its competitor. 500 units were ever produced and the last one was auction for $7M to help those affected in Italy earthquake. The Ferrari Laferrari usually costs around $1,420,000.

Porsche 918 Spyder

Another great competitor to the McLaren Senna is the Porsche 918 Spyder. The mid-engined naturally aspirated 4.6L V8 with additional two electric motors was produced between the year 2013 to 2015. 918 units were being produced at that time and all were sold out. Prices start at $845,000 and some even pay $2.4M to get the Porsche 918 Spyder in their garage. Let's talk numbers now. The 918 Spyder has 887 hp and 940 lb-ft of torque (V8 and two electric motors combined). The car uses a seven-speed PDK dual-clutch. It is a rear-wheel drive car and the front electric motor powers the front wheels. The 918 Spyder will accelerate from 0 to 62 mph in 2.8s, the same amount of time as the McLaren Senna and it will reach 124 mph in 7.9s. The car has a top speed of 217 mph (350 km/h). The Porsche 918 Spyder weighs between 1634-1704 kg (depends on what options you are getting). Inside the cockpit, expect to see a mix of car-fibre and leather or Alcantara. The inside of the Porsche 918 Spyder is a bit more luxurious than its competitors as the latter focused much more on weight-saving.

Mercedes AMG GTR | Review, Specifications, Price and Competitors

Superior performance, exquisite style, cutting-edge technology... This is what comes to our mind whenever we hear Mercedes. And once again, we are right with the 2018 Mercedes AMG GT-R. A supercar which has all the latest technology and luxury has but at the same time, a lot of raw power to push back to your seat. In fact, Mercedes-AMG has never put so much motorsport technology in a production car before. 

The new Mercedes AMG GT-R is the latest addition to the GT series. The first Mercedes AMG GT was released back in 2014 followed by the Mercedes AMG GT-C. The Mercedes AMG GT replaced its predecessor the Mercedes SLS AMG, produced from 2010 to 2014. 

The new Mercedes AMG GT-R has better aerodynamics and downforce compared to the AMG GT and AMG GT-C. The front fender is also a completely new one (more of that in the designs section below).

The Mercedes AMG GT-R's design is from the original AMG GT but with some updates to it. The lightweight high-strength aluminium body makes the GT-R agiler on the road as well as around the corners. The fixed carbon fibre rear spoiler helps in the aerodynamics of the car, eliminating unnecessary lifts during acceleration. There are two types of carbon fibre package which you can choose from when ordering your GT-R. Active air intakes on the sides of the car, on the front and back also improves the active aerodynamics of the car. Apart from the sleek body, the new AMG Panamericana grille strikes the most attention. The 15 chrome-plated vertical fins definitely make the car look more aggressive and menacing. The car is often referred to as 'The Beast of The Green Hell' as it has spent most of its development time in the 'Green Hell' of the Nürburgring racetrack and it has conquered the track with ease.

Engine

Under the hood of the Mercedes AMG GT-R is a 4.0L Biturbo V8 (3982cc) producing 577 horsepower at 6250 rpm and 516 lb-ft of torque at 5500 rpm. Its power is slightly more than the AMG GT and the AMG GT-C. The rear wheel drive (RWD) AMG GT-R has a seven-speed AMG Speedshift DCT. The car will do 0-60 mph in just 3.5 seconds and a quarter mile in 11.2 seconds.  The beast makes use of electronic steering actuators to move each wheel independently up to 1.5 degrees in each direction. The Mercedes AMG GT-R has a top speed of 198 mph.

Fuel Consumption

Apart from being a supercar and a luxury car at the same time, the Mercedes AMG GT-R is also good at fuel consumption. In the city, the car will do 15 miles per gallon and on the highway, it should usually do 20 miles per gallon. These figures look very good, considering the AMG GT-R to be a luxury car for the racetrack with a big V8 under the hood.  

Interior

Inside the Mercedes AMG GT-R, there is no compromise on luxury or technology. You will find leather, Alcantara and carbon fibre mostly everywhere. There is no cheap plastic anywhere at all. The car is packed with a lot of technology, from collision prevention assist plus to heated power folding mirrors with logo projectors (optional), the AMG GT-R has it all. Even though it is a two-seater supercar, it has a surprisingly high amount of airbags, eight in total. The car is equipped with the AMG Drive unit with E-select. You can control virtually everything on the 8.4-inch display with the touchpad controller in the centre console. The AMG GT-R is primarily equipped with a lightweight 4-speaker sound system but you can upgrade that to a Burmester High-End sound system.

The Mercedes AMG GT-R also comes with attention assist, LED daytime running lights, adaptive highbeam assist, Parktronic, rearview camera, adaptive braking, ABS, brake Assist (BAS), Electronic Stability Program (ESP), Smartkey, Distronic plus (optional), blind spot assist (optional), included in the base price.

Let's take a moment to look at the cargo space of the car. The AMG GT-R has a 10.1 cu ft of trunk capacity, bear in mind that it is a supercar.

The best competitor to the Mercedes AMG GT-R is none other than the Porsche 911 GT3. A lightweight supercar which is very nimble around corners and on the racetrack.
