New Genesis Concept coming up.

Hyundai will show a concept version of their "3 series fighter" at the New York auto show in a few days.
No doubt it will look nice.
Since they usually have great looking concepts (Like that super good looking Coupe a few months ago)
Unfortunately, they also have a history of turning these concepts into super boring/uninspired production models.
I guess that coupe concept was supposed to be a preview of the new G90/Equus. And look what happened there...

So we can only hope...

As I mentioned before, they will first rebadge the existing Hyundai Genesis sedan as the G80 for the new luxury brand.

2017 Mazda CX-4

More picture of the all new CX-4.
Basically, a sportier alternative to the CX-5.

Outside, there seems to be a bit of camouflage left on the chrome window surrounding.
Wheels are quite small, so this could also be a base model.

Inside, it does look really good. In line with recent Mazda designs.

So far, they claim China is the target market for this.
But I wouldn't surprised if it ends up in the US.

Let's hope...

Upcoming Genesis SUV

I know this is NOT a good picture.
(This was sent to me from Europe and I am trying to get a better version of it.)

Hyundai has mentioned a couple of SUVs for the all new Genesis brand.
One full size and a mid size one.
On top of the new G80 sedan (A face lifted Hyundai genesis), a new coupe and an all new RWD compact sedan.
It all sounds pretty good.

I cannot tell if this is supposed to be the big SUV or the smaller one...(looks like it says XG something...)

We should see the real thing sooner than letter, since the large luxury SUV market is much more lucrative than the large luxury sedan market.
Jus ask Cadillac...

2017 Mazda CX-4

Remember that all new SUV based on the Koeru concept from last year?
The one that has been spied many times in China.
Looking really good too.

Well, it will mostly stay in China. As it will not be sold in Europe.
No news about the US yet. But Mazda would be crazy not to bring this over here.

Ss for the name. Some people thought it was going to be called the CX-6.
Well, no. Here is the proof. It will be the CX-4.

Which means it could be cheaper than the CX-5. A good deal!

2017 Honda Civic Hatchback

We are supposed to see a "concept" version of the new Civic hatchback at the Geneva auto show, very soon. (which will have some over sporty bits and stuff)
But this is supposed to be the production version for the US.
Still looking quite nice. And ready to do battle with the aging Ford Focus over here.

Although, that "Honda seal of quality" has been tarnished a bit with a recall of all 2016 Civic sedans due to possible engine failure. Which is pretty bad...

A hatchback version of the new Elantra is also due out pretty soon.
And the new Cruze hatchback looks to be a serious contender.

Still, it's good to finally see the Civic Hatch back in the US...

(Thanks for this to a reader from Torrance)

2017 Lincoln Continental!

This is it ! The real thing. (Concept in blue)

And of course, it is very close to the concept. Since this "Concept" was just the production model with extra trim and big wheels.
So, those who liked the concept will love this.
I never liked the concept. So I'm not crazy about this new Continental.

I still think that grille design is horrible. And I do expect much more heritage from something called "Continental". Not just a generic design.

But, I am sure it will be a very nice car. Why not.

It'll be the "American Acura RLX". Very nice and very invisible.
Which is exactly what a Lincoln Continental should NOT be...

Again, from the rear, very close to last year's concept. (Although it does look quite a bit cheaper)

All new 2017 Mercedes E-Class

Finally we see the real thing (After discovering the interior a few weeks ago)

And it is exactly what was excepted. A larger C-class. Or a smaller S-class.
Although the design seems a bit simpler than these other models.

I think it does work very well. And will age pretty nicely too. Which is a great selling point for the E-class. Very tasteful, nothing obnoxious.

No one besides current Mercedes owners and car nerds will really notice this car.
Which is just fine. All it needs to do is say "Mercedes".

And it does...

2017 Volvo V90

There it is. And it looks ready to go.
A straight wagon version of the all new S90 sedan.

And it looks great! The only weirdness in the sedan is the heavy looking trunk. Which is now replaced by a sleek hatch.
It should be really cool. And also cheaper than the XC90.

I can't way to see this.

2017 Honda Odyssey

Apparently, this is actually the next Honda Odyssey for 2017. (So I've been told)

It is still pretty covered up. And it looks like... A minivan.
So don't except anything original.

So far I think the best looking one out there is the new Kia Sedona. Which does have a really nice, almost non-minivan, interior.

2017 Honda Odyssey?

Just a few more pictures of that Minivan prototype spied in the L.A area.

I was told it was the next Honda Odyssey. Which does make sense.
So I guess next year's big news will be the battle of minivans, between the new Odyssey and the new Town & Country...

Mystery Minivan caught

A few more pictures of this upcoming minivan.

I guess most people seem to think it is either the next Sienna or Odyssey.

So far, I am tempted to go with the Honda Odyssey.
Like someone noticed, the shape of the headlights and grille seem to match with what we are seeing on the CRV/Pilot front end.

I will be getting more pictures of this soon.

Next Toyota Sienna/Honda Odyssey?

This was just sent to me. It was taken in the US.
And I am just not sure what it is...

I know it's not the new Chrysler Town and Country (I thought it was at first)
But the grille, headlights do not match what we have already seen.

Some new Hyundai Minivan? Both the Sienna and Odyssey are due for a new one pretty soon. I guess.

(I will post more pictures of this very soon, so keep checking.)

What do you think?

This is, by the way, the front end of the all new 2017 Chrysler Town and Country.
As you can see, not the same as the one pictured above...

Mazda Koeru = Mazda CX-6/7?

Mazda just announced there will be a production version of the really good looking Koeru concept.
Which, we already knew, since these spy shots have been around for a while.

As you can see, It'll stay really close to the concept.
Mazda is aiming right at the Subaru Outback with this one. Someone for people who aren't that crazy about SUVs. People who prefer something lower, something more like a wagon.

As you can see here, they already have that. The Mazda 6 Wagon.
They could have jacked it up a bit. Just like the Outback is a jacked up Legacy wagon.

I guess they won't.

And why not. That Koeru looked really nice too. So we might not be missing the Mazda 6 wagon anymore...

BMW i5

BMW is supposed to add an all new i5 model to its hybrid/electric line up.
And it could be as soon as late next year.

It is supposed to be based on a longer version of the carbon fiber (expensive) i3 platform.
Therefore sharing some of the cost of the i3.

The larger model will be, of course more expensive. But would also have a much better range.
There is a rumor about it being a long range plug-in hybrid.
Using the updated 2017 i3 power train/batteries with a 3 cylinder range extender.

The 2017 i3 is rumored to get a range of around 125 miles. Or more.
This, combined with a 3 cylinder would make a truly great plug-in hybrid sedan .

All new 2016/17 Mercedes E Class

We will see the real thing very soon.
But so far, even with all that pixelated stuff, this is the best picture of the new interior I've seen.
And, as expected, it looks exactly like a cross between the C-Class and the S-Class.
No surprises here...

Also, the mix of a wide angle lens and this huge BFG type human driving the car makes the new E-Class seem like a tiny clown car.

Just saying...

Genesis G90

This is the replacement for the Hyundai Equus.

And, so far, looking the part of an expensive sedan. Unlike the new Cadillac CT6.
(Which is such a huge disappointment in real life)

They claim it will cost the same as the current model. So figure around $62 000.
(although it might actually be cheaper since the base model will now be a V6)

They still say it is a competitor to the BMW 7 series and the Mercedes S Class. Which is it not. Since BMW and Mercedes buyers (especially high end) almost never look at anything else.

But now that is is its own brand (kind of) and not sold as a Hyundai, it might actually have a much better chance against Lexus and Cadillac.
Plus, it will (hopefully) get all the advertising money that comes with launching a new brand.

I think this could repeat what Lexus did with the original LS sedan .
An attractive, less expensive,  alternative to some of the established players. (Lexus was also brand new then)

The current LS sedan starts at around $73 000.
The poor CT6 starts at $54 000. But that's for a 2.0 Liter Turbo.
Otherwise you pay $56 000 for the V6. Or $65 000 for the V6 Turbo AWD.

As for leasing, (Since most of these big sedans are leased anyway, Lexus offers the LS for $799 a month with $5000 due at signing.
While the current Equus is $669 a month with $2500 due at signing.
Not that huge of a difference. (Although again, the V6 would be less.)

The G90 V6 might be priced at around the same, or even less, than the CT6 V6.
While looking 100 times more like the luxury car it is supposed to be.

This could be interesting...
