HYUNDAI COMMERCIAL, “DAD’S SIXTH SENSE”, AWARDED AUTOMOBILE ADVERTISMENT OF THE YEAR

HYUNDAI COMMERCIAL, “DAD’S SIXTH SENSE”, AWARDED AUTOMOBILE ADVERTISMENT OF THE YEAR

The One Club, producers of the prestigious One Show Awards, today named Hyundai’s 2014 Super Bowl commercial, “Dad’s Sixth Sense”, one of the top Automobile Advertisements of the Year. Presented at the 2015 North American International Auto Show in Detroit, the 30-second advertisement, created by INNOCEAN USA, took top spot in the television category.
“Dad’s Sixth Sense” dramatizes the near-misses and breathtaking saves of everyday parenting. The action follows a young boy as he grows up, and Dad is there for him again and again. The commercial culminates with a final breathtaking save – only this time, it’s the all-new 2015 Hyundai’s Genesis that has the young man’s back. The commercial features the song, “Count On Me,” from Bruno Mars and highlights the innovation behind the Genesis’ world-class suite of Sensory Surround Safety features.
“We can all relate to those times when Dad was there to save the day. In this case, the Genesis, with automatic emergency braking, steps in when Dad can't be the hero,” said David Matathia, director of marketing communications, Hyundai Motor America. “With a great soundtrack from Bruno Mars, it's a great product feature story told in a human way.”
The One Club has created the Automobile Advertising Awards to recognize creative excellence in five categories – Print & Outdoor, Broadcast TV, Online Videos, Interactive and Experiential Advertising – as well as the Public Choice Award. The awards are judged by a panel of top advertising creatives and automotive journalists, recognizing the best, most creative work from automotive brands, automotive products and services, marketers and agencies.
This is not the first time the advertisement has been recognized since its February 2014 debut; “Dad’s Sixth Sense” earned recognition from Ace Metrix, a leading provider in television and video analytics, as the second most effective advertisement of Q1, 2014.

GENESIS NAMED 2015 NORTH AMERICAN CAR OF THE YEAR FINALIST

At the Automotive Press Association Luncheon in Detroit, Genesis was named one of the top three finalists for the 2015 North American Car of the Year. The Ford Mustang and Volkswagen GTI join Genesis as the other two finalists.

“We are thrilled that the Genesis has been listed as a finalist among an amazing cast of contenders and we anxiously await the jury’s final vote in January,” said Dave Zuchowski, president and CEO, Hyundai Motor America. “In 2009 we made history as Genesis became our first North American Car of the Year win. Since then Genesis has helped guide product development and continues to be a game changing model that challenges convention and redefines the luxury market.”
This year the jurors considered 28 cars from its long list before selecting the top three cars. Twenty-nine trucks and sport utility vehicles were considered in the Truck/Utility category with the Chevrolet Colorado, Ford F-150 and Lincoln MKC making the final list. The North American Car and Truck/Utility of the Year award is decided by a jury of 59 independent, full-time automotive journalists from the United States and Canada. This is the 22nd year of the awards, which were inspired by the prestigious European “Car of the Year” awards. The U.S. program is administered by an organizing committee and is funded exclusively with dues paid by the jurors. Jurors evaluate the cars on a number of factors, including innovation, design, safety, handling, driver satisfaction and value for the dollar.
“Prior to 2009, Hyundai had no presence in the world of luxury automobiles. Then the Genesis sedan rolled onto the scene and won the North American Car of the Year award, proving that luxury is a word that doesn’t require a German accent or a princely price tag,” said Tony Swan, North American Car of the Year juror. “Now the second generation Genesis, improved in every detail, is a finalist for the award yet again. This is the 22nd year of the North American Car of the Year award. In the last six years, Hyundai has won the award twice (Elantra won in 2012), had another car (Sonata) among the finalists in 2011, and placed two cars (Genesis and Sonata) in the semifinals for 2015. Not only is that track record enviable, it’s unique among contemporary carmakers.”
The winner will be named at next month’s North American International Auto Show in Detroit on January 12, 2015.

THE 2015 HYUNDAI GENESIS WINS TOP FAMILY CHOICE AWARD

THE 2015 HYUNDAI GENESIS WINS TOP FAMILY CHOICE AWARD

Hyundai’s all-new 2015 Genesis was named
Top Family Choice by the Greater Atlanta
Automotive Media Association (GAAMA) during
their second-annual signature event, the
Family Choice Challenge. Evaluated at the
beautiful Lake Lanier Island Resort in Georgia,
the Genesis earned the event's most prestigious
award, scoring higher than any other competitor.
"A sport sedan like the 2015 Hyundai Genesis is
attractive to drivers who want a family car but
don't want to sacrifice on style and performance," said Nick Palermo, GAAMA president. "The Genesis
earned its place as 2014 Top Family Choice by exceeding expectations. Although the previous-
generation Genesis sedan is an impressive car, this new model again raises the bar for both
Hyundai and its competitors. Families looking for accessible luxury should add the 2015 Genesis to their
short lists."
“It’s an honor to receive the award for Top Family Choice for the 2015 Genesis,” said Mike O’Brien, vice
president, Corporate and Product Planning, Hyundai Motor America. “GAAMA is full of exceptional
automotive media and this accolade proves that the all-new Genesis has what it takes to succeed in a
very competitive market.”
All-new for 2015, the Hyundai Genesis carries a host of innovative safety and driving assist features
coupled with interior volume and segment value. An ultra-rigid rear-drive platform utilizes high-strength
steel to hold 16 percent stiffer torsional rigidity and 40 percent stiffer bending rigidity compared to the
outgoing model. This provides safety and compelling driving dynamics, allowing families a no-compromise
motoring experience. A suite of advanced assistance features such as Rear Cross-traffic Alert, Lane
Change Assist, Blind-Spot Detection, and Smart Cruise Control are available. Combined with pricing
starting at $38,000, the 2015 Hyundai Genesis is a premium sedan the whole family can enjoy for years
to come.
